Delivery, guarding, extraction, electrical work and any additional training are quoted for the installation. Availability and lead time are confirmed before order.
Delivery, unloading, positioning, electrical connection, enclosure or controlled area and interlocks.
Suitable extraction, filtration, replacement filters, servicing and disposal of removed material.
Operator time, training, inspection, maintenance, optics care, electricity and the opportunity cost of downtime.
Annual net saving = avoided current-process cost − new annual operating cost. Include labour, consumables, outsourcing, transport, waste handling, rework and downtime only where they actually change.
Simple payback = total installed investment ÷ annual net saving. If the saving is zero or negative, this calculation does not show a payback. It excludes financing, tax, depreciation and the time value of money.
An illustrative installation costing £25,000, with measured annual savings of £8,000 after its operating costs, has a simple payback of about 3.1 years. These are example inputs, not a Carter quotation or a promised saving.
Use your own validated cycle times and realistic utilisation. Do not budget a full shift of beam-on time if loading, inspection, maintenance and changeovers occupy part of that shift.
Ask each proposal to identify the machine configuration, safety controls, extraction, delivery, installation, training, warranty and exclusions. Use the same acceptance test and finished-part requirement when comparing offers.
Check whether an advertised cleaner is pulsed or continuous-wave before comparing prices. The average power figure alone cannot establish equivalent cleaning performance. Record the pulse specification, cooling, optics, complete machine weight and included equipment.
Check whether VAT is included, whether a price covers the complete machine or a deposit, and what delivery and training add. Do not treat an optional extraction or safety package as included unless it is listed in the written quotation.
Use a representative cleaning trial to compare the complete working process.
Match the cleaner to the material, finish and daily workload.
