Buyers' guide · Box & pan folders

Choose the folder around the box, tray and flange work you actually make.

A folder needs enough capacity, throat depth and tooling flexibility for the job. Manual and hydraulic machines can look similar in a photograph but behave very differently in production.

The questions that change the machine

Capacity is only the first check

Material and bend length

Confirm the mild-steel thickness, maximum bend length and whether stainless, aluminium or galvanised material changes the required capacity.

Tooling arrangement

Segmented top tooling, removable sections, box-pan clearance and the smallest flange all affect the useful working area.

Manual or hydraulic?

Manual folders suit flexible general work and do not require a three-phase supply. Hydraulic folders add powered clamping/bending and a different positioning requirement.

Before ordering

Send us the formed section

A sketch or photograph with the material thickness, flange lengths, return folds and longest panel is the fastest way to confirm whether a manual folder or hydraulic model is suitable.

Delivery and training

Confirm access, unloading and whether you need commissioning or basic operator training. The quotation should state what is included.
