Aluminium bending guide
Identify the alloy and temper before choosing a tight radius. Aluminium grades and material conditions do not all bend in the same way.

Confirm alloy and temper
Include the alloy, temper, thickness and rolling direction where known. Ask the material supplier for bendability and minimum-radius guidance for the supplied condition. Do not choose a radius from the word aluminium alone.
Plan the radius and flange together
A tighter radius is not automatically a better result. Material properties and rolling direction affect the risk of cracking. The V opening also changes the force and the support needed under the flange. Check the part drawing, material guidance and actual tooling together.
Trial the complete finish
Use a representative sample with the intended finish or protective film. Check the bend for cracking and surface marks, then measure its unloaded angle and finished dimensions. Keep the confirmed bend data with the job before ordering a production batch.
Frequently asked questions
Will the aluminium calculator preset confirm my setup?
No. It provides estimates using assumed material values. Enter verified strength data and confirm the radius, tooling limits and test bend for the actual alloy and temper.
Discuss your next bending job
Send the material, thickness, working length and a drawing with your enquiry.
