Press brake tooling explained
Start with the finished component and the machine’s clamping system. A tool that looks similar in a photograph is not necessarily interchangeable or suitable for the required load.

The tooling combination
| Punch | The punch profile and tip radius affect access, clearance and the bend. A gooseneck can provide space for a return flange, but the complete bend sequence still needs checking. |
|---|---|
| Die | The V opening affects bending force, the achievable flange and the resulting radius. Select it with the material, thickness and bending method; one opening does not suit every job. |
| Holders and adaptors | Confirm the tang, clamping arrangement, safety retention and installed height. Adaptors change available daylight and must have suitable load ratings. |
Before ordering
| Rated load | Check the permitted load of the punch, die, holder and machine for the actual loaded length. The weakest component limits the setup; machine tonnage is not a tool rating. |
|---|---|
| Lengths and segments | Specify the working length and any segments needed to form boxes. Check tool height, straightness and condition when combining existing and new sections. |
| Send the right details | Send the machine model, a dimensioned clamping photograph, existing tool reference and the component drawing. Include material, thickness, bend length, flange and desired radius. |
