New vs used sheet metal machinery
Compare the complete installed cost and the work the machine can perform. A lower purchase price can be good value when condition, support and the required repairs are understood.

Before comparing prices
| New machinery | Specify capacity, controller, tooling and options around your work. Confirm the production lead time and included commissioning. Carter new machines include a 24-month parts and labour warranty. |
|---|---|
| Used machinery | Request the exact model, age, serial number, service history and a working demonstration. Check controller and spare-part availability. Any warranty must be stated for that particular machine. |
| Complete cost | Include tooling, transport, unloading, positioning, electrical work, commissioning, training and any repairs. Compare both offers on the same basis. |
Inspection and acceptance
| Test representative work | Agree a trial using your material and drawings. Record bend or cut consistency across the working length, repeatability and any faults identified. |
|---|---|
| Check support | Confirm which manuals, programs, backups and tools are supplied. Ask who can service the machine and whether replacement controls are still supported. |
| Agree the condition | Put the supplied condition, remedial work, delivery arrangements and warranty in writing. Arrange a competent inspection of the machine and its safeguards before use. |
